Teaching Logarithmic Functions

As a youth my mind was corrupted by the large amounts of television that I watched. This song is from Ren and Stimpy. I want to change the lyrics to aid in teaching about logarithmic functions. But I'm not sure how that will work out.

Celebrate Pi Day

March 14 is Pi Day. You can celebrate Pi Day in a number of ways. My personal favorite is by eating pie.

Apparently piday.org is the official website for pi day.

What do you get when you combine Peter Griffin, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and The Music Man? Shipoopi!

I saw this episode of The Family Guy over Christmas vacation and I cannot get the song out of my head. Today when I was grading some students papers, I noticed that several of the students mispelled the word Jacuzzi. Immediately, I began singing to myself "Jacuzzi, jacuzzi, jacuzzi. The word that's hard to spell," to the tune of Shipoopi.

Internet for Teachers

When I first saw that I was scheduled to take Internet for Teachers this fall, I laughed loudly. At first it sounded to me as though future educators are so technologically inept that they offer a course on how to use the internet to find information or lesson plans. To be honest, it sounded like a really unintelligent course.

I arrived at Bloomsburg in May and completed 12 credits over the summer. Toward the end of the summer when my classmates and I started to compare our schedules for the fall, I began to learn more about this Internet for Teachers course. Apparently, I would have to purchase a domain and publish a website. Gasp!

For years and years I have avoided learning about how to put things on the internet. Now I am taking Internet for Teachers, and I am excited to learn about how to design websites.

Children 12 and under are growing up with the internet. I remember learning to use search engines when I was a freshman in college, that was ten years ago. If I am going to stay ahead of or at least keep up with my students, I better know how to design a website that will benefit my students and enhance their education. I better be able to equip them to compete in today's changing world of technology.

In addition to designing a website, I also need to create a blog. I am getting a head start on that assignment.
